Cost Configuration
Configure default cost items, pricing logic, and financial assumptions used in the solarVis Lead Generator feasibility calculations.
Purpose of This Page
The Cost Configuration page defines how project costs are calculated inside the solarVis Lead Generator. It allows you to control which components are included in the calculation, how they are priced, and how margins and additional costs are applied.
This configuration directly affects the pre-feasibility results shown to end users and the financial outputs generated from the Lead Generator.
What You Can Do Here
From the Cost Configuration page, you can configure the following capabilities:
Define separate cost structures for different system size ranges
Select which panels, inverters, mounting systems, cables, and other components are included
Specify how each item is calculated (quantity, per watt, set)
Use material database prices or override them with manual pricing
Add custom cost items and logistics adjustments
Apply discount rules and define the profit margin
Control VAT visibility and calculation behavior
Set annual maintenance cost assumptions
This structure gives you full control over how your pricing model behaves inside the solarVis Lead Generator.
How It Works
The page explains how cost items, system size ranges, and financial settings work together to calculate the final investment results displayed in the Lead Generator.
System Size Tabs
At the top of the page, you can switch between predefined system size ranges:
0–25 kWp
25–100 kWp
100–500 kWp
500+ kWp
Each tab contains a separate and independent cost configuration.
This means:
You can define different panels or inverter combinations for small vs. large systems
You can apply different margins depending on the system scale
You can adjust mounting, logistics, or custom costs based on project size
The Lead Generator automatically selects the correct configuration based on the calculated system size during feasibility analysis.
The calculated system size is the optimal capacity determined based on the user’s kWh consumption, project location, and the roof’s slope information to most efficiently meet the specified energy demand.
Currency Selection
You can select the currency from the dropdown (e.g., USD, EUR, etc.).
All item prices, totals, and financial outputs will be calculated and displayed in the selected currency.
Important:
Currency affects both internal calculations and end-user results
Make sure it matches your target market and pricing strategy
Items Table
The Items section defines which cost components are included in the total project calculation.
Each row represents one cost component.
Each row contains:
Category
Item
Unit
Unit Price
Use the Database Price option
Delete Item
Detailed Settings (three-dot) menu
Category
Select the type of cost component. Available categories typically include:
Panel
Inverter
Both on-grid and hybrid inverters should be included in the cost configuration.
Important: If the end-user selects a battery for the project, the solarVis system offers hybrid inverters.
When multiple inverters are added, the system selects the inverter combination that is closest to:
The calculated AC system capacity is determined by DC power and the optimum DC/AC Ratio for the project.
This ensures that the selected inverter setup aligns as closely as possible with the designed system size and performance requirements.
Battery
Mounting
Cables
Scada
Shipping or Labor Cost
Custom
The selected category determines which products can be selected and how the item is treated in the calculation.
Item
Choose an activated material from your material database.
Depending on the category:
For Panel / Battery → select a model
For Inverter → select an on-grid, hybrid model
For Mounting → select mounting systems
For Custom → define a custom cost item
This ensures consistency between your material database and Lead Generator pricing.
Unit
The Unit defines how the cost will be multiplied during calculation.
Available unit types:
Quantity - The system multiplies the unit price by the calculated number of components.
Per Watt - The system multiplies the unit price by the total installed system capacity (in watts).
Set - The price is applied once per project, regardless of system size.
Unit Price
Enter the manual price if you are not using the database pricing option.
Manual pricing allows you to:
Override material database prices
Apply strategic pricing for marketing campaigns
Use Database Price
When enabled:
The system automatically pulls the price from the material database
The database price can be updated from the Active Materials page.
The Unit Price field becomes locked
Any future database price updates will automatically reflect here
When disabled:
You can manually enter and control the price
This gives you flexibility between centralized pricing and campaign-specific adjustments.
Delete Item
Use the delete icon to remove the item from the configuration.
Removing an item means it will not be included in cost calculations for that system size range.
Detailed Settings (three-dot) menu
Each component has a dedicated settings panel accessed via the three-dot menu on the right side of the row.
Changes made here directly affect how this material behaves inside the Lead Generator pre-feasibility calculation.
This configuration window is structured into two core sections:
Proposal Settings
This section determines how the selected material is presented in customer-facing proposals.
You can control the options below:
Decide whether the material appears at all in the proposal.
Control whether the customer can see the individual price of the material or only the total system cost.
Choose whether applied discounts are visible to the customer in the proposal.
Decide if the exact manufacturer and model information is displayed.
Proposal settings are linked to each other. For example, to display the custom discount for a material in the proposal, you must select both “Show this material in the proposal”, “Show unit price of this material in the proposal”, and “Show discount of this material in the proposal.”
Financial Settings
This section controls how the material contributes to total financial outputs
Available options include:
Include or exclude the material from the total return on investment cost
Apply a material-specific discount that overrides default pricing logic
Define a custom profit margin for the material
Apply a specific VAT rate
Proposal settings and financial settings work dependently. For example, not selecting “Show discount of this material in the proposal” in the proposal settings does not affect whether “Custom Discount” is selected in the financial settings.
Add New Item
Click Add new item to include additional cost components according to the project requirements.
Financial Configuration Section
Below the items table, you can define financial assumptions applied to the total calculated cost.
These settings affect the final project cost shown in the customer-facing proposal.
Discount
Enable Show Discount in Quote if the discount should be visible to the customer
Select percentage or amount
Define the discount rate
The discount is applied to the calculated project subtotal.
Profit Margin
Select percentage or amount
Define your default margin rate
The system applies the profit margin after summing material and additional costs.
VAT
Enable Show VAT in Quote if VAT should be displayed to the proposal
The system uses the VAT rate configured for the project’s country or region. This ensures compliance with local tax rules.
Annual Maintenance Cost
Define a fixed annual maintenance cost assumption. This value is used in long-term financial analysis and payback calculations.
After making any changes on the Cost Configuration page, don’t forget to click the Save button to apply the changes.
All financial results depend on this configuration, accurate setup is essential to ensure realistic and strategically aligned pre-feasibility outputs.
