Cost Configuration

The Cost Configuration page defines the material prices and financial rules used by the AI Sales Assistant when calculating estimated system costs and preparing customer proposals.

Purpose of This Page

This page allows you to configure how the AI Sales Assistant calculates system costs. You can either reuse the active Solar Lead Generation cost configuration or create a dedicated configuration by defining material costs, pricing methods, financial parameters, and proposal settings. You ensure that generated proposals and ROI calculations reflect your company's pricing strategy.

What You Can Do Here

On this page, you can do the following points:

  • Reuse the active Solar Lead Generator cost configuration or maintain a separate AI Sales Assistant configuration.

  • Configure different pricing structures for multiple system capacity ranges.

  • Include battery costs in PV ROI calculations or not.

  • Apply custom discounts, profit margins, and VAT rates when needed.

  • Adjust discounts, profit margins, VAT display, maintenance costs, and quotation settings.

This structure provides you with complete control over how your pricing model operates within the AI Sales Assistant.

How It Works

The AI Sales Assistant calculates preliminary system costs using the configuration defined on this page.

When a customer completes a conversation, the assistant determines the estimated system size, selects the matching capacity range, applies the configured materials and financial settings, and generates the estimated project cost within the proposal.

Configuration Source

At the top of the page, the Use lead generator cost configuration option determines whether the AI Sales Assistant uses the existing Solar Lead Generation pricing configuration.

When enabled:

  • The active Solar Lead Generator cost configuration is automatically used.

  • Imported values become read-only.

  • Pricing can only be modified from the Solar Lead Generator module.

When disabled:

  • The AI Sales Assistant maintains its own independent pricing configuration.

  • All values on this page become editable.

This section is only visible to customers who have purchased both Solar Lead Generation and AI Sales Assistant.

Battery Cost in PV ROI

Enable Include battery cost in PV System ROI if battery investment should be included when calculating PV ROI.

Disable this option if ROI calculations should only consider the PV system investment.

System Size Tabs

Cost configurations are maintained separately for four PV system sizes:

  • 0–25 kWp

  • 25–100 kWp

  • 100–500 kWp

  • 500+ kWp

Select a capacity range before editing its materials or financial settings.

During cost calculation, the AI Sales Assistant automatically uses the configuration that matches the calculated PV system capacity.

The system size calculated represents the optimal capacity determined by taking into account the user's kWh consumption, the project's location, and the roof's slope information, in order to meet the specified energy demand as efficiently as possible.

Currency Selection

Use the Currency selector to define the currency used throughout the selected configuration.

Currency affects both internal calculations and end-user results.

Items Table

The material list is divided into two sections:

  • PV System

  • Battery

Each material includes the following fields:

Field
Description

Category

Material category (Panel, Inverter, Battery, Mounting, Cables, Scada, Shipping or Labor Cost, Custom, My Items)

Item

Selected material from the database.

Unit

Pricing unit (such as Quantity, Per Watt, or Set).

Unit Price

Manual unit price.

Use Database Price

Uses the current price stored in the solarVis material database instead of the manually entered value.

Existing items can be edited or removed using the controls on each row, and it can be used the button called Add new item to include additional materials.

The delete icon (X button) can be used to remove the item from the configuration. Removing an item means it will not be included in cost calculations for that system size range.

Both on-grid and hybrid inverters should be included in the cost configuration.

Important: If the end user selects a battery for the project, solarVis automatically offers hybrid inverters.

When multiple inverters are available, the system selects the inverter combination with a total AC capacity that is closest to the calculated AC system capacity.

The calculated AC system capacity is based on the project's DC power and the optimum DC/AC ratio.

This ensures that the selected inverter configuration aligns as closely as possible with the designed system size and performance requirements.

Detailed Settings (three-dot) menu

Each material includes a dedicated Detailed Settings panel, accessible from the Settings icon at the end of the item row.

This panel allows you to customize how the selected material behaves in proposals and financial calculations.

The panel consists of two sections:

Proposal Settings

Proposal Settings control how the selected material is presented in customer-facing proposals.

Setting
Description

Description

Adds a custom description for the material in the proposal.

Show this material in the proposal

Includes or hides the material in the proposal.

Show unit price of this material in the proposal

Displays the individual unit price instead of only the total system cost.

Show brand and model number in the proposal

Displays the manufacturer's brand and model information.

Show discount of this material in the proposal

Displays the material's discount in the proposal.

Note: Some proposal settings depend on each other. For example, to display a material's discount in the proposal, Show this material in the proposal, Show unit price of this material in the proposal, and Show discount of this material in the proposal must all be enabled.

Financial Settings

Financial Settings determine how the material contributes to project cost calculations and ROI.

Setting
Description

Include in ROI

Includes or excludes the material from ROI calculations.

Custom Discount

Applies a material-specific discount instead of the default configuration.

Custom Profit Margin

Applies a custom profit margin to the selected material.

Custom VAT Rate

Applies a material-specific VAT rate instead of the project default.

Note: Proposal Settings and Financial Settings operate independently. For example, hiding a material's discount in the proposal does not disable or affect the Custom Discount used during financial calculations.

Financial Configuration Section

The financial settings at the bottom of the page apply to the currently selected capacity range.

Discount

Configure either:

  • Fixed Amount

  • Percentage

Enable Show Discount in Quote if the discount should be visible in customer proposals.

Profit Margin

Select the calculation type and define the profit margin applied during cost calculations.

VAT

VAT is calculated using the project's default VAT rate.

Enable Show VAT in Quote to display the VAT amount in customer-facing proposals.

Annual Maintenance Cost

Enter the recurring annual maintenance cost associated with operating the system.

This value is included in financial calculations where applicable.

Saving the Configuration

After completing the configuration, select the Save button.

Since each capacity range stores its own pricing configuration, review and save every range that requires different material prices or financial settings before using the AI Sales Assistant.
